Cockburn Worker Backups

Privacy policy

This policy explains the narrow way this private backup utility accesses and uses Google user data.

Effective August 29, 2026

Service scope

Cockburn Worker Backups is a private, single-owner utility operated under SG Services. It copies encrypted Minecraft server backup archives from an owner-controlled homelab server to the same owner's Google Drive account. It is not offered as a public service.

Google user data accessed

The application requests the Google Drive drive.file permission. This permits it to create, view, update, and delete only the Drive files and folders that the application itself creates or that the owner explicitly opens with it. It cannot browse or read unrelated files in the owner's Drive.

The application processes the encrypted archive contents, encrypted file and directory names, basic Drive metadata needed to upload and verify those files, and OAuth credentials needed to maintain the authorized connection.

How data is used and stored

Google user data is used solely to create and verify off-site backup copies. Backup contents and their names are encrypted on the homelab server before upload. OAuth credentials are stored only on that server with owner-only file permissions. Google Drive stores the resulting encrypted objects.

Sharing and disclosure

Google user data is not sold, advertised against, transferred to third parties, or used for any purpose unrelated to backup and recovery. The service has no analytics, advertising, or external user database.

Retention and deletion

Encrypted cloud backups are retained until the owner deletes them. Local backup retention is managed separately on the homelab server. The owner can remove the encrypted Drive folder at any time and can revoke the application's access from the Google Account connections page.

Security

The service applies least-privilege OAuth access, client-side encryption, restricted local file permissions, and authenticated administrative access. No security measure is absolute, but the design intentionally minimizes the Google data available to the application.

Changes and questions

Material changes will be reflected on this page with a revised effective date. Questions may be sent to the user-support address displayed on the Google authorization screen.
